Ghastly interview
Ghastly, whose real name is David J. S. Kwan, is an American DJ and music producer known for his contributions to the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, particularly in the dubstep and bass music genres. He gained prominence in the early 2010s with his unique sound that blends heavy basslines with melodic elements. I was able to ask him a few questions about his music career, and life outside of music.

“The tracks I’ve dropped are truly sentimental to me. I grew up with this type of EDM music, and always wanted to make my own. It’s a little dark, but it’s what I like.”
Ghastly is also recognized for his engaging presence on social media and his connection with fans. His personality is a big draw for his fans, which make them tune in and see what he’s doing. “Working with people like Sullivan King and Lil Jon really helped me figure out what I want my work to sound like. I think having people to look up to is important, and being able to work with other people that I have looked up to has given me a good understanding of the business.”
