The Evolution of T-Pain

Artist ‘T-Pain’ has had one of the craziest music careers ever. In 2005, he came out with ‘Rappa Ternt Sanga,’ which started his music career in the fast lane. He subsequently spent several years as a regular on the charts, thanks to his own music and his frequent collaborations with other artists. His career has been nothing less than climbing up a steep hill quickly, as he went through trial and tribulation from a young age to even now.

Between 2007 and 2008, T-Pain had no less than 13 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including three that reached No. 1: "Kiss Kiss" with Chris Brown, "Low" with Flo Rida, and "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')." He is widely known for his auto tune pitch, as he’s stood out through this different style of music. Blending its use with R&B and hip-hop sensibilities, T-Pain became a prominent figure in both genres throughout the 2000s. Other music industry artists, such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Future, and Travis Scott have since utilized Auto-Tune to a similar effect. Despite moderate critical and commercial reception, his second album, Epiphany, peaked atop the US Billboard 200, and spawned the Billboard Hot 100-number one single “Buy U A Drank" (featuring Yung Joc) as well as the top-40 single, "Bartender”(featuring Akon).

T-Pain has had some troubles in his career however, which was leading him on a path to darkness. On April 28, 2007, T-Pain refused to shorten his performance at Radio One’s Spring Fest Concert in Miami, which caused police presence to increase backstage. After concert officials aborted his performance of "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')", police chased him and his entourage off-stage and out of the premises and detained them. In June 2007, a warrant was issued for T-Pain's arrest for driving with a suspended license. He subsequently turned himself in to the Leon County Jail on November 2, 2007. He was held without bail, but was released three hours later.

Pain has had some trouble in his past, but he’s been through the errors, and has made it to the other side. He’s still going strong today, as he just performed at Coachella, and has been performing at so many events to this day. He will go down as one of the greatest party artists ever. The legacy he has will always be big, and his fans will carry his music with them forever.
