Juneteenth in Eugene

Juneteenth is an important holiday for people who identify as African and African-American in the city and is also a great way to connect with your community! Theirs amazing music, fantastic food, and a ton of booths to look at and shop from! You get to support the community and meet some great new people. It goes on for most of the day so make sure to bring a chair, water, and an empty belly!! A blanket for later in the day might be nice too!! Make sure to invite all of your friends and family because the more people the better because it means more business and sales for local business to help keep them open and show a strong community support and is also nice to see more people out and about! It is held outside and happens every Juneteenth! It is family friendly and a great event to catch up with friends and to chill out for the day! Try different cultures foods and learn as much as you can. It’s very nice too that it’s a federal holiday, I just wish people got the day off and paid like it’s a federal holiday! There has been some push back in the earlier years of trying to get this day to become a federal holiday (mainly from the Deep South), but I’m very glad it is. It makes it so people feel more included in this huge melting pot of a country. Let us know if you’ll be doing anything special for Juneteenth and how you will be celebrating it!
