The New Genre Of Music In Track City:Fashion Jams
First and foremost, Special Thanks to Gucci Pineapple and Dylan Squires for inspiring this article.
For years artists have been blending their unique sense of style with their music making it run way hits or club hits. With hip-hop it was the pink Cam’ron drip, with early rock it was the Mohawks and leather, with country it’s the signature cowboy boots and hats, but in a place like Eugene, Oregon, it’s a strange mixture. It’s the fun way models making their own music that can be described as live instruments rock meet new age pop meets disco vibes. The show goers dress as if they’re walking on a run way but the frantic beats and singing would suggest you’re at an early 90’s grunge show. The music slowly takes over your body and makes you move while the performers themselves are more stylish than your average joe you see out on the street. Most of it has been thrifted and made into a new product, a lot of these artists not only show themselves off musically at these shows but will also show off their artistic talent by creating their own pieces of clothing to model as they perform. It’s almost as if you are getting two shows for the price of you. Groups and artists such as Dana and Alden, Grasp, Ksplif, August Buzz, and others have unique styles that make them easier to recognize to their fan bases and also make it so they’re not just limited to music fans. They get to show off their unique clothes they make and design and introduces them to a even bigger fan base in the fashion industry. When you go to one of these artists shows, their style and what they’re wearing is what you’re looking at the whole show and they always dress in something so different and unique you can’t help but smile and want what they’re wearing. Check out one of these shoes here in Eugene, Oregon and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about!! As a city known for track, it’s awesome to see these ducks spread their wings and blaze their own trails!!
